Viewsonic monitors to ship with free Internet colour matching system
[August 21st 2000]
ViewSonic Corp is to ship all 15-inch (and larger) CRT monitors and flat panel displays with E-Color colour correcting software free of charge. The technology behind E-Color's software automatically enables users to see reliable colour on an increasing number of major online retail Web sites using True Internet Color.
"E-Color's colour correction software makes ViewSonic an even better option for consumers, as display monitors are now better equipped for online shopping and for sharing digital images," said Matthew Gill, senior vice president of sales and marketing at ViewSonic. "E-Color ensures that our customers will see the most accurate colours in their display monitors."
"ViewSonic continues to provide solutions for the Internet," said Bill Hilliard, president and CEO of E-Color. "When consumers evaluate products on the Web, they don't have the ability to touch and feel the merchandise. Therefore they must rely on their screen when making purchasing decisions. Our partnership with ViewSonic enables millions to experience an E-Color-Corrected Web and takes the guesswork out of the online shopping experience."
ViewSonic will bundle E-Color's True Internet Color in products starting in September. As part of the strategic relationship with E-Color, all ViewSonic customers, past and present, can receive the E-Color software interactively by visiting www.ecolor.com. Currently, flat panel support for E-Color is available exclusively through E-Color's OEM partners. E-Color plans to roll out its support for flat panel displays through its Web site by the end of the year.
Web sites such as Bloomingdales.com, SaviShopper.com, Visualize, and BlindsGalore are among the sites offering an E-Color corrected experience. Prominent computer and graphics magazines have recognized E-Color software as a leading consumer utility for keeping colours in tune.
