CobWeb launches new e-commerce solution
[August 21st 2000]
CobWeb, an e-commerce Application Service Provider (ASP), has recently launched their E-$torefront EZ solution, a streamlined version of their E-$torefront e-commerce solution. E-$torefront EZ is targeted at companies with a small product catalogue that want an industrial strength purchasing process and are trying out e-commerce on their Websites for the first time.
"E-$torefront EZ is ideal for those merchants who want to add a buy button to their site and be assured that their system will work to the most exacting standard," said CobWeb CEO Richard Lancaster. "For companies that don't need a complex online catalogue or are experimenting with e-commerce, E-$torefront EZ provides some of the best transaction processing and order management tools on a scale that meets their needs -- merchants get a bullet-proof solution for a fraction of the cost of building it internally."
E-$torefront EZ should be particularly suited for sites that usually sell one product at a time, such as digital downloadable products. For example, CobWeb's most recent E-$torefront EZ client Information Week sells industry-related reports through download.
Information Week needed a trim site to meet their needs. Most of their customers purchase one product at a time, so a complicated catalogue structure is unnecessary. Also, since the products are delivered electronically, Information Week doesn't require sophisticated integration between their e-commerce site and a fulfilment house, but they do need a solution that can handle digital goods delivery.
For clients such as this, E-$torefront EZ gives them access to credit card fraud control, real-time transaction processing, and multiple methods for delivering electronic goods and securing or encrypting them -- all elements necessary for a successful download store.
"For many of our clients, our E-$torefront EZ solution acts as a stepping-stone to a full E-$torefront implementation," Lancaster said. "Customers' expectations grow as they use an e-commerce site over and over. By starting with E-$torefront EZ, our clients have a built-in growth path for their site. With a few site changes, we can add in things like advanced in-store merchandising, customer wish lists or other functionality, depending on the customer's needs."
