ClearCommerce offers real-time credit card authorization in multiple currencies
[August 2nd 2000]
ClearCommerce Corp has announced that its processing technology is performing real-time credit card authorizations in more than 50 currencies worldwide. Multiple currency authorization allows online merchants to easily sell retail goods and services internationally, enabling purchase through the customer's local currency.
Through the ClearCommerce Engine, merchants can permit credit card transactions in U.S. dollars, British pounds, French francs, German marks, Euro dollars and 46 other currencies. At the end of each day, merchants can be credited with U.S. dollars, or another native currency, after the bank or processor performs the currency conversion. The merchant needs only one merchant bank account in its own domestic currency.
"The multiple currency feature in the ClearCommerce Engine brings the e-retailer closer to the customer by bridging the cultural gap and offering products or services in their native currency," said Robert Lynch, ClearCommerce CEO and president. "The Internet is a global community and many merchants want to market to all nationalities. This feature reduces single- currency limitations and allows online merchants to penetrate international markets by offering products and services in local currencies."
ClearCommerce has certified its Engine to authorize and process multiple currencies with three leading credit card processors, including First Data, Paymentech and NatWest.
