Sell It! Verdict
Online Marketing Handbook by Daniel S. Janal is an excellent resource for experienced Marketers seeking to extend their marketing plans to embrace the Internet. Many of the techniques and concepts covered will be of interest to the entrepreneur or small business person seeking to grow an online business.

Sell It! Review
Janal’s recently revised edition is based round the premise that we are now in the fourth phase of Internet Marketing:

Phase 1 – “Techies” showing how text and graphics could be distributed over the Web
Phase 2 – “Techies” trying out commerce on the Internet
Phase 3 – “Techies” and marketers posting literature on the Net, charging what ever they though they could get away with for designing home pages or selling advertising. No thought was given to measuring results or targeting audiences
Phase 4 – Characterized by professional marketers using professional marketing techniques of testing and measuring results.

Although aimed squarely at professional marketers needing to understand why they need to get online and how to go about it, many of the techniques and concepts covered will be of interest to the entrepreneur or small business person seeking to grow an online business.

The book explains how to integrate the Internet and commercial online services into a marketing plan to achieve profits, cost savings, improved productivity, or enhanced levels of customer satisfaction and support. Topics covered include online marketing strategy, tools, advertising, public relations and selling. A technical background is not needed.
