First Edition of the E-Commerce, Online Marketing, Social Media Blog Carnival

Welcome to the first edition of the E-Commerce, Online Marketing and Social Media Blog Carnival.

Thanks to everyone who participated in our first edition. There were an amazing number of articles that were submitted for this first edition that took me days to sort through. While most of the articles that were submitted were really good, I only selected the very best posts from the bunch that I thought our readers would get the most use out of. Not surprisingly, there was quite a number of posts submitted on the topic of social media, especially on utilizing Twitter for marketing your business.

Each of these posts included in this edition provided significant value for all people in e-commerce and online marketing, regardless of expertise level.

I hope you get as much out of this material as I did.

Great post on Search Engine Land on SEO Tips for Maximizing Facebook Visibility. Social media marketing giant Facebook continues to steal thunder from the almighty Google. The more and more I dig into these social media platforms, the more I start to believe that this channel is going to eat the search engines lunch. Stay tuned.

Here’s an outstanding post from Chris Boggs at Search Engine Watch entitled Common SEO Problems of E-Commerce Sites. A great post with great information particularly in regards to duplicate content and deep linking.

Here’s a really informative post from Site Point entitled Twitter’s Little Known SEO Value As it turns out, there’s much more to Twitter than meets the eye and it turns out there’s much more benefit from an SEO standpoint in e-commerce when utilizing Twitter to market your business.

E-Commerce Marketing recently posted E-Commerce and the Mobile Web which talks about the explosive growth of mobile marketing, its advantages over e-commerce and how to design your website accordingly for.

Michelle Grier on Interspire’s blog discusses how to improve Your Google rankings by Ignoring Google altogether.

Here’s another great post from Kevin at Blue Acorn’s blog on the eCommerce Formula for Success. Really solid post. The folks at Blue Acorn are really smart and always have great information on their blog so check them out.

One of the more popular posts and Get Elastic is from Justin Palmer at Palmer Web Marketing entitled Losing Customers at the Register: 12 Checkout Blunders. This is a great primer on how to minimize the effects of shopping cart abandonment.

Chris Goward at WiderFunnel Marketing outlines the 6 Landing Page Conversion Factors. While some of these tips might seem hard to implement for some of you beginners, try to keep these principles in mind when designing or redesigning your website. You’ll be glad you did.

Christian Russell has a great post on Next Level Blogger entitled Google is Gravy – Why I Refuse to Depend on Google. Learning how to operate an e-commerce business or blog without relying on Google rankings is key to success over the long term.

Alvina Lopez presents 100 Twitter Feeds to Sharpen Your Writing Skills. Great post for all those aspiring bloggers and copywriters looking for solid writing resources on Twitter.

Tim Grice presents Increase Your Search Traffic Instantly. This is a great quick and dirty SEO guide that you can use right away to take advantage of the “low hanging SEO fruit” on your site and get some immediate improvements in your rankings. Really solid post Tim!

Alan Underkofler presents 7, 10, Ok How about 11 Top Reasons Twitter is a Must Have for Your Business. This one is a great post on some of the reasons to use Twitter for marketing your business that most business owners might not think of.

Tim Grice was fortunate enough to be included with another great post titled 20 Steps To Sniff Out An SEO Scammer also at SEO Wizz. This is a great article for webmasters who are considering hiring an SEO. There are lots of SEO scam artists to watch out for and this post will help you distinguish the wheat from the chaff.

Arthur Pledger presents Blogging as a Side Hustle. Kudos to Art on a great post about the realities of earning an income from your blogging and how to “hustle” it on the side.

Susan White presents 100 Best Blogs for New Media Students, a great resource for students with outstanding new media content blogs and website sources.

Traci Hayner Vanover presents How to Add Social Media to Your Press Release Strategy, a great post on how to integrate social media and PR.

Susan Tatum has a great summary post on her blog from AdWords guru Perry Marshall entitled Is Search Marketing Always the Best Lead Generation Tactic. The post cites specific examples of where search marketing is the wrong solution for lead generation.
